Alan G. Hemstreet was born March 29, 1938 in Vernal, Utah to Glen and Neva Allen Hemstreet and died at the young age of 76. To know him was to know genuine kindness. He was known as a hard worker and a very loving, loyal and respectful man. He was a very giving person, and he never forgot to thank someone for any kindness they shared with him. Alan worked for the Ashley National Forest Service for thirty-one years. He worked at Equibrand in Granbury, Texas for an additional eleven years. Alan was happily married to Viola Savage for thirty years. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple. A year after she passed, he was reunited with a high school classmate, Naon Murray, and fell in love for the second time. They were married for twenty-six years and were also sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. In his later years, he may not have had much to say, but his one-liners brought smiles to everyone around him. His mind may not have been at its sharpest, but he never lost his sense of humor and he never stopped giving his second wife, Naon, a hard time about everything. Alan is survived by his nine children and six step-children; Glen (Tina) Hemstreet, Randy (Ranee) Hemstreet, Dennis (Brenda) Hemstreet, David (Allison) Hemstreet, Stephen Hemstreet, Mark Hemstreet, Ernie Cruz, Dallas Clay, Kenny Clay, Rex Anderson, Ada Marie (Marlin) Winn, Kathy Ann (Emmett) Firkins, Susan (Doyle) Angus, Wendy Fulkerson, Marie (Craig) Montgomery, two siblings; Dennis Hemstreet and Peggy Paulson, his second wife, fifty-six grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren. He loved his family more than anything, he has been described as a class act and a fine example for the legacy he has left behind. Funeral services were held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary with viewings Sunday evening from 6-8 and 1 hour prior to services. Burial was in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. www.blackburnvernalmortuay.com
