Alice Arlean Stewart

Alice Arlean Stewart, our loving wife, mother, and grandmother returned to our Heavenly Father on July 11, 2014 at the age of 78. Arlean was born to William Julius Clark and Pearl Hatch Clark on April 13, 1936 in Vernal, Utah the eighth child of ten children. Arlean married Edward A. Stewart on April 8, 1955 in Vernal. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Vernal Temple. They were blessed with four children that they raised in the Maeser area. They lived there for most of their 59-year marriage except for a brief time when they moved to Farmington, New Mexico and San Diego, California. Arlean's greatest joy came from her family and her home. She spent many enjoyable hours in her flower and vegetable garden. She was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook. You could often hear her singing as she went about her work. Arlean's extended family often could be found in the summers sitting under the trees enjoying a picnic that Arlean had lovingly prepared. It was very important to her to have family reunions and holiday parties for her family she loved having around her. Her home was a safe haven for her family especially for her grandchildren, a place where they knew they were cherished. Arlean had a quiet way of helping others in need whether it was family, neighbors, or strangers on the street she tried to help. Ed and Arlean built a successful business, Stewart Machine and Welding, with the help of the family members and long-time employees. They were dedicated to all those that worked there, employees becoming family to them. Arlean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings. She is survived by her husband, her children: Kenny (Julie) Stewart , Jeannie (Stan) Greene, Joyce (Brad) Jackson, Brad (Helen) Stewart and her sister, Delora Oaks (Darwin), 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by parents, and brothers; Von Clark, Gerald Clark, Don Clark, Lyle Clark, Shell Clark and sisters; Elva Stopple, Beth Miller, Delilia Clark, and granddaughter, Paige Erin Jackson, great granddaughter Kinnley Stewart. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ashley Maeser Chapel (2575 North 1500 West). Friends and family may call at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and from 9:45 to 10:45 at the church prior to the services.
