Betty Lew Hames was born February 26, 1946, in Berthed, Colorado. Betty passed away peacefully on April 28, 2023. She is the wife of Henry Hames. They were married for 56 years. Sister to Marvin Ivey. Mother to Debra (Charles) Mullen, Jennifer (Colby) Goddard, and Christina (Ed) Miller. Grandma to Justin (Kellsie) Goddard, Carrie (Matthew) Burnett, Trey Miller, Marlena (Devin Etten) Miller, and Breanna Mullen. GG to Everlea, Graysen, Joella Goddard and Isla Etten.

Betty was the Elementary School secretary for 32 years. During her time with the school district, she played several roles. She watched many generations pass through the school. She was known by many names, Mrs. Hames, the lunch ticket lady, the lady on recess duty, and the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. She spent most weekends with her daughters in the gym at sporting events, where she was considered second mom to most. She always had what someone was missing. Later Betty would follow her grandkids through their sporting events.

Betty was an immaculate seamstress. Sewing was her favorite past time. She would spend hours in her sewing room making anything from stuffed animals and blankets to custom wedding dresses for her daughters. Along with her sewing she loved reading books, woodworking and gardening. She loved her Daisies.

She is survived by her husband Henry, children Jennifer, of Rangely and Christina, of Vernal, UT.

She is preceded in death by her parents Loretta and Lew Wright, daughter Debra Mullen, granddaughter Breanna Mullen, son-in-law Charles Mullen.

Graveside Services for Betty will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11 AM at the Rangely Cemetery.
