Betty Kincher

Betty Kincher passed away peacefully at home on the Mesa at age 93.

Betty was the 4th child of Vera and William Warren. Her Siblings were Glenn Warren (Pat) Harold Warren aka Cyclone (Doris) Charlotte Wix (Clark), all deceased. She was raised on the Warren family ranch famously known as the K/K, which her grandfather, George Warren homesteaded in the 1800’s. She attended the Miller Creek School walking and riding horses to school, playing with her friend Deloris Pollard and having unbelievable adventures with her siblings. It was too far to go to high school so Betty boarded with local families and her step-grandmother Cora Strawbridge. Later, her parents had a ranch near the Russell Ranch and the Green Cabins and she rode a horse to school in town.

After graduating Betty taught all grades of school for one year at the Coal Creek School during World War 2 when teachers were scarce. She again had to ride her horse from the ranch to teach school at Little Beaver even in the winter. Elry Kincher came home after the war from England and he and Betty went on a double date with friends and that was the start of a lifetime together on the Kincher Ranch on the south side of the river only a few miles from where she grew up. Betty was famous for her apples she sold in town and her hay samples at the fair and her garden which she loved. She was always eager to have activities such as cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, skating on the ditch, snowmobiling and riding horses and floating down the Miller Creek ditch. She became interested in quilt making and was always cooking for everyone that showed up at the ranch. Betty and Elry supplemented income by outfitting hunters and some hunters became good friends visiting even when it wasn’t hunting season. They especially kept in contact with dear friends, Norman (Buzz) and Dorothy Simillian and their three daughters. She also gained notoriety by riding her motorbike to town with a pink backpack and miles and miles of dirt bike riding with her friend, Carolyn Sullivan. Elry and Betty had 4 children having lost son Allen at one year olddrowning in the Highland ditch.

She leaves behind one daughter, Lois Williams, sons Russell (Becky); Lewis Fay (Stacie), grandchildren Brian Kincher-Winoto (Kina), Jeniffer Kincher, Laurie Sizemore Jackson(Shad), Lance Sizemore(Gretel) and great granddaughter Britni Robbins and 5 great great grandchildren, Britni’s children, and extended Warren family and many close friends. Betty loved her family and we all loved Betty.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11 AM at the Meeker Cemetery in Meeker, Colorado.
