Billy Jean White (Gustafson), age 79 of Vernal, Utah, formally of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away at home on Friday, February 28, 2014, in Vernal, with her loved ones by her side. She was born February 5, 1935, in Gatesville, Texas on Corel Creek underneath a mulberry bush, to William and Sybil Dossey. At the age of 9 years old she was placed in the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's home in Denton, Texas, until she reached the age of sixteen, at which time she was reunited with her Mother in Cortez, Colorado. Billy Jean spent most of her adult life in the Farmington/Aztec area; where she was employed by San Juan Regional Medical Center, and moved on to farming and gardening which she really enjoyed. Later she was a cook in various restaurants up until the time her health declined. Her hobbies include quilting, gardening, camping, fishing, and picnicking with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother William Dossey, sister Wilma Emert, son, Sammy Gustafson, and grandsons Johnathan and Frank. Billy Jean is survived by her children, Linda Gustafson (Farmington NM), David Gustafson (Marti) (Hamilton TX), Hilma Garner (Lonnie) (Phoenix, AZ), Leslie Shafer (John) (Vernal, UT), brother Leslie Dossey (Jane) (TN) 14 Grandchildren , 12 Great Grandchildren. Graveside service will take place on March 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM in Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 East Main St. in Farmington, New Mexico. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
