Bruce Wayne McDowell born Feb 23, 1961 in Casper, Wyoming to Elmer Calvin McDowell and Glenda Timothy McDowell, Shortly after Bruce’s birth the family moved to Vernal, Utah where he was raised, but lived for a short period of time on the island of Malta.
Bruce graduated from Uintah High School in 1979 and served an LDS mission in the Padova Italy Mission. Bruce’s mission was one of the highlights of his life. He never quit speaking the Italian language and reading about the country. He also loved Italian pop music.
Bruce attended college and had many odd jobs, and worked many years at Turner Lumber.
Bruce’s main hobby was leather tooling and reading history books, especially on the Civil War, WWII, and the Outlaw West
Bruce was a very sensitive and tender hearted person which made him quite vulnerable, causing many struggles and pain inside. But he prevailed.
Bruce died of Congestive Heart Failure due to high blood pressure on his birthday February 23, 2020 at the age of 59. We will all miss seeing Bruce walking around the town of Vernal.
Bruce is Survived by his siblings Kathleen Timothy Pedersen (Scott) of Vernal, Calvin Lee McDowell (Dee) Oregon City, Paula McDowell Breitenbach (Karl) of Vernal, and Kaye McDowell Williams (Audie) of Silt, Colorado; Many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Elmer and Glenda McDowell.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 28, 2020 at 12 noon at the Vernal Memorial Park. With a Viewing at the mortuary from 11-11:45. Entrusted by Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary and Cremation Care.
