Carl Everett Pitt, PhD passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Carl was born May 7, 1925 in Vernal to Karl and Reda Hunting Pitt. He served in the US Navy before Attaining his Education He married Peggy Marie Smuin July 27, 1956 in Vernal, their marriage was later solemnized September 15, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple. Peggy died March 8, 2008. Carl latter married Iva Stuart and resided in St. George. He is survived by his wife Iva; daughter, Kathy (Larry) Chapman; son, Raymond (Sherry) Pitt; daughter, JoLyn (Tom) Buhl; son, Carl (Cathy) Pitt; daughter, Teresa (Shawn) Floyd; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Mark (Jewel) McKee; sister, Rayma (Dan) Slaugh; and sister-in-law, Bobby (Rex) Pitt. He is proceeded in death by his father, Karl Ether Pitt; his brother, Rex Pitt; parents: Reva and Harvey McKee; wife, Peggy Pitt; and grandson, Brennon Buhl. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Maeser LDS Stake Center, 2745 West 1000 North. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, 15 East 100 North, and on Saturday, prior to services, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Rock Point Cemetery, with Military Honors from the American Legion and Utah Army National Guard Arrangements entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
