Carma Merrell Stevens

Carma Merrell Stevens passed away Jan. 16, 2018 at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. Carma was born to Franklin Angus Merrell and Mabel Weist, May 12, 1937 in Roosevelt, UT. She came home to three older brothers Ivan, Lorin and Orvil. The family moved to Vernal, where her father passed away. Mabel married William M. Richardson. Carma graduated from Uintah High Class of 1957. She married Orval D. Stevens Aug. 28, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had three children Cully, Wade & JannaRae. Carma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many church positions, such as organist, chorister, Relief Society Presidencies, scouting and primary. She received various awards for her service in scouting program. She had a strong testimony of her Savior and friend Jesus Christ. She shared her testimony through her daily acts of service and kindness to others around her. She knew no bounds in remembering and recognizing birthdays and anniversaries of family members and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family doing things together camping, fishing, hunting, gathering fire wood, gardening, canning and preserving her garden produce, reading, puzzles, crocheting and sewing. Carma is survived by her Husband Orval of Naples, Son Cully (Maryann) Stevens of Hesperus, Co. Son Wade (Brenda) Stevens of Vernal, UT, daughter JannaRae (Michael) Butler of Naples UT. She has 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by grandparents, parents Angus Merrell, Mabel Weist, William Richardson, Brothers Ivan A. (Venna) Merrell, Lorin F. (Norine) Merrell, Orvil C. (Marva) Merrell. Many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Naples LDS Ward Chapel (2313 South 1500 East). Viewings for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 and at the Chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction of the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary & Cremation Care.
