Carolyn Loretta Gates Critton was born on March 25, 1936 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma to Fred L. and Bernice York Gates and went home to be with Jesus on September 3, 2016. She is survived by her loving husband Donald E. Critton; her three children: Don K Critton, Kirk Critton, and Susan Murray along with her husband Ray-who Carol loved like her own: her 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Carol life about all else was about love. She had a deep love for God whom she often called her psychiatrist. Carol had an overwhelming love for her husband and family. Don and Carol are the staples of a true love story. They fell in love and maintained that love to this very day. They were married April 12, 1952, and for 64 years, they sat an example of selfless love for one another. Every morning she woke an hour before her man to make sure Don had a hot breakfast. Carolyn loved her family more than anything. She and Don not only raised their three children together but also two of their grandchildren, Natalie and Jason Critton. She never saw that as a burden because it gave her such joy (and also two people to wash the dishes.) She was the model for how to be the perfect grandma to all of her grandchildren. She built a home where all were welcome, you didn't need to knock, and you would never leave hungry. Carol had a strong work ethic and was proud of the 30 years she worked as a school cook for Ashley Elementary. Each summer she also worked for the summer program to ensure her grandkids could get new school clothes. She will be deeply missed because her life and love touched so many. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 @ 11:00 AM @ the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. A viewing will be from 9:45-10:45 prior to services all at the Mortuary, Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction and care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
