Cecil Hueling Massey, 94, passed away at the Uintah Care Center on October 25, 2013. He was born September 22, 1919, to Joseph Irving and Gwendolyn Blackburn Massey in Mt. Dell (Dry Fork), Uintah County, Utah. Cecil married Afton Johnson on November 13, 1937. They were sealed in the Provo LDS Temple on March 27, 1982. He worked the majority of his life as a carpenter, spending three years in Price, Utah, working for Kilfoyle Krafts. He worked several years with Charles Henderson in bring television into the valley. He and Afton lived some years in Dutch John while he was working for the United States Park Service. Cecil served as president of the Price Little League Baseball organization. He also served a term as Commander of Uintah County Search and Rescue. He was an avid reader and was interested in learning about other people, their culture, and their country. He had a real interest in geography and history. He spent much of his time in the areas mountains camping, fishing, hunting, hauling wood, looking for Indian artifacts and enjoying nature. Cecil is survived by his daughter, LaRena (Bill) Caldwell, and sisters, Doratha Walker, Helen Suits, Frona Kay Miner, and Reva Kimball, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Afton, and his sons, Cecil Dale, and Dennis Neal. Funeral services will be held October 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., at the Vernal 4th Ward LDS Chapel (235 East 600 South). Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
