Charles Groover Hackney age 87 of Vernal, Utah formally of Live Oak,Florida passed away Sunday July 5,2015 from a sudden illness. He was born in Lake City,Florida on September 2 1927 to Claude J Hackney and Henrietta Hackney. His survived by his wife Willett Hackney, daughter Betsy Cleveland(John), son's Jeff Hackney and David Hackney(Georgina). He has nine grandchildren and 12 great grand children. He has 2 step daughters who have been sealed to him and his wife. He was preceded in death by his sister Ann Hackney Wells and Claude J Hackney Jr. Groover joined the Navy after finishing high school. He later returned home to join the family business with his father, running the tractor company. He later went on to work in the Florida state capital in the engineering department until his retirement. After retirement he drove for American Van Lines and Wal-Mart and was able to see the country. He joined the LDS church in 1972 and held several callings. He loved his church and was a dedicated member. Groover was loved by all. He never knew a stranger wherever he went. His favorite activity was going up to the local Wal-Mart for 2hrs just to bring home 2 items. He was just a funny guy with so many quips and will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Glines 1st Ward Chapel (1499 Highway 40) Family and friends may call at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Thursday, evening from 6:00-8:00 and at the Church from 9:30-10:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
