Claude Shupe Jones, our beloved and respected father passed away at the age of 79 in Reno, Nevada on August 2, 2012 of natural causes. He was born the first of six children in Ogden, Utah to Lewis Lindly and Fern Olive Jones on July 9, 1933. He chose to support his family at the age of nine years old taking small jobs where available to help his mother and family. He was always very proud of the fact that he bought his first car at the age of twelve. He married Joann Beth Alice Merie Southwick on April 13, 1952 in Anaconda, Montana. He tried attending school but taking care of his family was more important, so he left school in the ninth grade for steady work. Claude did whatever needed to be done to support his family; from stomping wool, farming, truck driving, logging, and mining. He even tried being a boss once, but that did not work for him. He just wanted to work hard. He had lived in a variety of places, too many to mention. His hobby that he was the most proud of was his ability to tell you what year and model a car was by just hearing the motor. This worked for cars older than 1984, then they started sounding the same. He loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints all his life. His greatest achievement was being a father. His greatest disappointment is when his last child left home. He is survived by his wife; Jo Alice of Reno, Nevada, children; Fern Alice Neighbors, of Jensen, Utah, Becky Jones of Jensen, Claude Timothy Jones of Reno, Heidi Young of Van Vleck, Texas, James jones of Manning, North Dakota, siblings; John Jones of Arizona, Frank Jones of Ogden, Utah, Mary Middleton of Morgan, Utah, Alice Jones of Ogden, Utah, 22 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and his dog, Tinkerbell. He had the misfortune of having to bury 4 children; Douglas Jones, Felecia Jones, Kaill Jones, and Garth Jones. Services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jensen Ward LDS Chapel. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and 1 hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial will be in the Jensen Cemetery under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
