Daun Huber DeJournette

Daun Taylor Huber DeJournette was born Oct. 29 1929 in Lapoint Utah, the only child of Rex and Cynthia (Lyman) Taylor.

Daun passed away peacefully Oct. 28 2018 at the Uintah Care Center from complications of a stroke.

Daun grew up in Lapoint riding horses daily with her dad as a child. Daun had a love for music at an early age. She was singing on the porch nightly with her parents. She loved to sing and play the piano. She learned at the age of 8 to play the piano by ear.

Daun grew up singing with her dad as he would play his guitar. They were joined by her life long friend Dorothy Luck. Daun and Dorothy sang for numerous funerals, church socials, weddings and other events.

She married Lynn Huber in June 1946. They had three boys Ray, Rex and Ralph. They lived on a farm in Lapoint where she milked cows, raised sheep and took care of the bummer lambs. They later moved to Maeser Utah. Daun was left a widow at a young age. She raised their boys with the help of her parents.

Daun worked for many years in the public and served in the basin communities.

She worked for many year’s for Dr. Paul Stringham and offices of Uintah County. She served in the Vernal Hospital as a Pink Lady. She loved people and being social.

She had a Love for her family and friends. She loved playing card games. She enjoyed being out in nature hiking the hills and rock hunting. She was an active member of the LDS church and kept up with political issues.

One of her greatest accomplishment’s was her book she co wrote with the Love of her life Richard (Dick) DeJournette.

Daun and Dick reacquainted in the 1980s where they rekindled a relationship, fell in Love and married in May 1986. They spent many hours traveling and gathering history and pictures for there book “100 years of Brown’s Park.

Daun is survived by a daughter-in-law Loretta Huber Vernal. Grandsons Lynn (Wendy) Huber Lapoint, Colt Huber Vernal. Granddaughters Courtney (Chris) Yarber Spokane WA, Kara (Richard) Schultz Vernal.

Great grandkids Lyndsy (Remington) Roberts, Taylor Huber, JaLee Daniels, Gwen and Tate Huber, Clair and Paige Yarber

Great Great grandkids Easton and RyLynn Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard DeJournette, children Ray, Rex and Ralph, Great Grandson Quintin.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary. A viewing for family and friends will be Monday evening from 6-8 and at the Mortuary one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
