Debbie Bowden

Debra Kay McMickell Bowden, March 31, 1958 passed away July 20, 2018 peacefully at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Debra was born the third child of five to Eleanor and Forrest M. McMickell. Debra went on to marry Bob Bowden. She was proceeded in death by her parents and nephew Jamie Fisher. She is survived by husband Bob Bowden; daughters Rusti (Chris) Bell, Misti (Michael) Schultz, stepson Robert P. Bowden; Grandchildren Kody, Kylynn, Brent, Dakayla, and Beka, step-grandchildren Taylor and James; brothers Russell (Brenda) McMickell and Robert (Terry) McMickell; sisters Ronda Fisher, Julie McMickell, and Cindy Mogen; son in law Travis Wagner; special family member Ginger Bowden; Smarty her dog; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who love and will miss her dearly.

Debra loved spending time with family and friends, especially on the mountain. Endless hours were spent camping, picking wildflowers, driving around looking for animals or just looking at the scenery, shooting, and working on the mountain. She loved flowers and almost always had a vase of fresh flowers near her. Whether at home or in a camper and sometimes just the car. She spent many hours watching the hummingbirds around her house. Often grumbling to Dad to make sure the feeders were always full for her birds. She loved country music and a radio was always playing nearby. In the fall and winter you could find her watching and cheering for the Denver Broncos. A passion she shares with most of her family. She loved clowns and has an extensive collection of knick-knacks and trinkets. She loved to watch and hear the sounds of her wind-chimes of which she had many all over the house and yard.  All who knew her knew she had a huge fear of the water but in her younger years was an accomplished water skier. She also enjoyed floating the river with family as long as her brother Russell was there. She loves sewing and making things for people she loved especially the blankets for her grandchildren. Easter was a favorite holiday and she looked forward to it every year, even the years it fell on her birthday. You could find her coloring eggs, and usually everyone else, with her grandchildren and children. In her younger years she worked in the oilfield and tending bar but she spent most of her life being a homemaker taking care of her family. Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren, each having an unique and special nickname from Grandma, her daughters, Bob, and her siblings.

There will be no services at this time but a celebration of life will take place at Remember the Maine Park on August 10, 2018 at 2pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary and Cremation Care. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
