On January 1st, 2014 our lives were forever changed. Debra Goodrich Hopes passed away peacefully in her home. Debra was born on August 13, 1952 to Verdin and LaRae Peggy Goodrich of Vernal. Throughout her employment with the Uintah County Health Department, Dr. Sarhatts medical office, and the 8th district Court she made many long lasting friendships. Debra and Ken enjoy a love of traveling to various car shows around the state, showing their car The Judge. Mom is an amazing chef; her love of cooking was always well represented in every dish she shared with her family and friends. Our family dinners will never be the same, especially Thanksgiving and the confusion of Which is it Yams or Sweet Potatoes? And Mom, I guess I ll never know the secret to your sticky chicken recipe. Debra has left behind Ken, her best friend and husband of 42 years, her son Zack (Shanell); mother Peggy Goodrich; brothers, Craig (Lana) Goodrich and Kenneth (Diana); sister Lori (Danny) Widner; her grandchildren Kiersie, Taylor, Ronnie, and Rilee. Debra has been reunited with her brother Ricky and father Verdin. The family would like to thank Debra for the care and patience she shown to our dear Mother and family over the past few years in the role of caregiver, never forgetting mother s doctor and hair appointments, grocery shopping, taking Mother out for lunches, and just the simple rides around the valley. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary at 2:00 PM. Friends and family may call at the Mortuary from 12:45 until the time of services. Debra your beautiful smile, fun sense of humor, and contagious laughter will be forever missed by us all. Services have been entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
