Angels were waiting at heaven's gate as Delcie Lou Brawn went to meet the savior on September 8, 2014. Delcie was born in Leadhill, Arkansas to Charlie Lieu and Edith May Henderson. She had 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She grew up in the country and after walking four miles back and forth to school, there were always the farm chores. She would always laugh and say, she was the other boy in the family. She would help pick cotton, hook up their big horse for plowing, and sometimes would pull a green chain in their mill. Her stories take us back to the simple life of enjoying family. Her favorite family pastime was listening to boxing on the radio which would lead to her older brother being the referee for her and another sibling. Other memories she shared was all about how much their family loved each other and how much her parents loved them. Later on; her family left Arkansas and went to live in Washington State. This is where she met Fred W. Scovell. They married in Cleelum, WA on September 05, 1953. Fred was in the Service which took them to West Virginia, Germany, and back to the United States. She enjoyed the many adventures she had and spoke fondly of the memories she had made there. Delcie and Fred had five children. Linda Lou Humphrey- Baptiste (deceased), Shirley Eksund of Vernal, sons: Thomas W. Scovell, Fred W. Scovell, Sidney E. Scovell (all of Salt Lake City, UT). Fred and Delcie was later divorced. She moved to Modesto, CA, where her parents lived. Her joy and love in life was God and her family. Her favorite past times included taking her children to church, spending time with the auxiliary ladies making peanut brittle, playing games with friends and family and having picnic's in the park. Delcie moved to Springfield, Oregon where she later met and married James Brawn. They later divorced. She made many friends in Springfield, and was involved in the Pentecostal Church of God. She and other members enjoyed spreading the gospel by holding services at the many rest homes located in town. She later obtained her ministry license and went on to hold services and pastor churches in need. Delcie loved Oregon. She loved the mountains, the rivers, and the rain. This is where she finished raising her sons who was the light of her life. In 1999, she moved to Vernal, Utah to live near her daughter. Delcie made many friends in Vernal and cherished the time she had with family here. Delcie is survived by her daughter, Shirley (ARNY) Eksund of Vernal, sons: Thomas Scovell, Fred Scovell, Sidney Scovell (all of Salt Lake City, UT), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, in whom she greatly adored and loved each and every one of them!
