Dennis Bingham Hacking, age 70, formally of Vernal, passed away at his home in Kansas City, Missouri after a 9 year battle with cancer. Dennis was born on February 27, 1941 in Vernal, Utah to J. Ferron and Louesa Ferron Hacking. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1959, and was the Salutatorian of that class. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Utah and attended the University of Washington for his graduate studies. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves, Infantry. Dennis married and was sealed to Sonja Christensen on February 18, 1966 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He worked as a Nuclear Engineer/Project Manager/ Consultant for 38 years. 23 of those years were with Enerco Services. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served two LDS missions, both in Copenhagen, Denmark. Serving one mission as a young man, and the other with his wife Sonja on a couples mission. Dennis is survived by his loving wife; Sonja, children; Lene (Dean) Dudek of Eugene, Oregon, Stephanie Fehrle of Tulsa Oklahoma, and Lars (Charlene) Hacking, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, sisters; Laura Chew, Margie (Vaughn) Mott, Sarah (Nick) Weisgerber, and sister-in-law; Linda Hacking. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Joe Hacking, and brother-in-law; Dean Chew. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glines Chapel (1510 West Hwy 40) in Vernal. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the guidance and care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
