Don G. Johnson

Don G. Johnson was born in Vernal, Utah July 16,1936 to Frank and Katie Johnson. He passed away on December 21, 2014. Don grew up in a large family with ten brothers and sisters in Vernal and married the love of his life, Norma Kay Chivers on February 26, 1959 in Ely, Nevada. Don and Kay had four rambunctious boys. The family enjoyed hunting, fishing, and looking for arrow heads. Don was a hard working man, always providing for the family. He was a logger in the early years and a carpenter for most of his life. He was self-employed in carpentry and also owned his own hot-shot business. He enjoyed wood working, especially if he could make something for his grandchildren. Don always looked forward to a morning cup of coffee with his buddies. Whether it was in Vernal or when he lived in Tillamook for a short time, he could always be found telling stories and offering his opinion on any subject. Don and Kay were truly best friends. Whether they were hunting, fishing, camping, or just going to breakfast, they enjoyed spending time with each other. He is survived by his sons along with their spouses, Rod and Barbara Johnson of Tillamook, OR, Duck and Jenn Johnson of Vernal, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, his sisters and their spouses, Lola and Theron Davis, Donna and Bill Rasmussen, Lenore and Darrell Lance, Barbara and Edwin Watkins, Leah and Gary Anderson, Ellen and John Clark, Carol and Earl Gardner, and his brother and spouse, Ben and Annette Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his wife, Kay, parents Frank and Katie Johnson, sons Kenny Johnson and Joey Johnson, brothers, Farrell Johnson and Jay Johnson, and grandson Ace Alexander. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 11:00 am at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the services all at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. Services have been entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
