The world has lost a caring soul, on June 21, 2015 Donny T Sawyer passed away at his home through complications of pneumonia. Donny was the first child born to Jacqueline Smuin Robbins and Steven A Sawyer on August 19, 1964. Donny was a lover of animals, a master gardener, a comic book collector, a gamer, and a true friend. Donny grew up in Vernal, went to college at CEU and later moved to Salt Lake City. Throughout his high school and college years Donny enjoyed every minute of participating in theatre and anything to do with the arts. Donny worked for several different companies including Stand Optical, Kimball Electronics, Rise, and Wal Mart Vision Center. Growing up Don spent many hours camping, hiking, and reading. He loved spending time with his cousins and making wonderful memories along the way. He often talked about the family vacations he spent with them. Donny loved to cook and spent a lot of his time browsing through cook books for the next recipe he was ready to proudly perfect. He loved holidays, spending countless hours with his nieces and nephews coloring Easter eggs, tye-dying t-shirts, and carving pumpkins. He was a proud owner of many lost and stray pets. Donny had a huge place in his heart for animals and was always bringing them home. He was an expert at cross-stitching and enjoyed working on personalized handmade gifts for his family. Donny is survived by his parents, Gale and Jackie Robbins; sisters, Lorri (Bob) Bashein, and Tina Robbins Shaw; brothers, Wade Robbins, Shannon (Sue) Sawyer, Blain Robbins, and Kris (Roni) Sawyer; grandmother, Mary V Smuin, and many much loved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by father, Steven Sawyer; grandfather, Doyle Smuin; grandparents, Lurean and Ivan Slaugh, Ardith and Lowell Robbins, and Afton Sawyer; aunt, Janet Hatch; cousins, Kelly, Trina, Blake, Randy, Rhett, Nick, Britt, and David. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 26 at 11:00 am at the Kingsbury Community Church with visitation one hour prior and at the Blackburn Mortuary on Thursday, June 25 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Services are entrusted to the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
