In loving memory of Dodie Caldwell Wenzel Doris "Dodie" Caldwell Wenzel joined her heavenly family on May 3. The world has lost a light and one of the sweetest persons we have ever known. She was born on March 14, 1938, in Vernal, Uintah, Utah, and passed away in the arms of her family at her home in Logan, Utah. Dodie had a wonderful childhood. She grew up in Vernal and loved her immediate and extended family so much. She married Kenneth E. Calder and had three children of that union, Jeff Calder of Vernal, Utah, Susan Brummond and Caryn Mullin, both of Casper, Wyoming. Dodie then married Stephen G. Oldham and moved to Casper, Wyoming, and had two children, Stephen Oldham and Jamie K1aassen, both of Logan, Utah. Dodie finally met and married the love of her life, Joe Jr. Wenzel. He had two children, Gary Wenzel and Kelly Burrows. Dodie had many things that she particularly loved: silver bracelets, walking on the beaches of Mexico, four-wheeling in the mountains, colorful dishes and quilts, and Shasta Daisies. She loved to read and study. She was particularly fond of Native American history. She loved the holidays and playing cards at family gatherings. She really loved the Denver Broncos and her little Dachshund dogs! Dodie exhibited so many beautiful qualities as a daughter of God. Her happiness, her beautiful smile, her loving nature and her ability to make others feel so special as individuals. She had the cutest laugh you have ever heard and she had a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. You could feel how much she loved you just in the way she looked at you and smiled. She had a way of making you feel like you were her favorite, even though you knew that's how she made everyone else feel. If we were to grow old and be as loved as she was, we should consider our lives whole. Dodie, mom, we will always love you and cherish the day that we can be together again. Your friends and family. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you give to one of Dodie's favorite causes, the Missionary fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or to your local Hospice. Thank you! Funeral services for Dodie Wenzel will be conducted on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel (3040 North Vernal Ave). A viewing Friday from 6:00-8:00 and Saturday from 10:45-11:45 both viewings at the chapel. Burial will be in the Dry Fork Cemetery. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
