Duane Gilbert Tucker

Duane Gilbert Tucker passed away peacefully at home on October 13^th 2022 at the age of 85. Duane was born on January 13, 1937 in Portland, Oregon to Gilbert LaVon Tucker and Melva Laree Davis Tucker. Duane attended high school in Portland, Oregon and went on to attend Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon where he graduated with a degree in Forestry Management. Duane served in the US Army at Fort Ord, California, Fort Lewis, Washington and in Stockton, California.  He then went to work for the US Forest Service and spent time in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, and Utah. Duane retired after 35 years from the job that he loved as Forest Supervisor of the Ashley National Forest.

In 1960 he married Anah Visscher in the Los Angeles Temple. They had five children together and later divorced. Duane married Gerry Preece on June 1^st, 1995 in the Portland, Oregon Temple.

Duane loved working in his yard and having the greenest grass in the neighborhood.  He loved caring for yards so much that after retiring from the Forest Service he had a small landscape company. He loved the Oregon Coast and sharing it with his kids and grandkids.  He was excited to move back there after retiring and built a home in Gearhart, Oregon  which became his favorite place in the world. He and Gerry lived there for 15 years.  In 2014 Duane and Gerry moved back to Utah to be closer to their family.  Duane was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. 

He is survived by his loving wife Gerry, brother Gary (Bonnie) Tucker.

 Children David Tucker, Gary (Vicki) Tucker, Jeff (Missy) Tucker, Jon (Stephanie) Tucker, Betsy (Dan) Nix.  Stepchildren Ryan Wright, Dustin (Stephanie) Wright, and Ashley Wright (Josh Staheli). Duane had 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

We wish to thank family and friends for their loving support and care during his illness.

Funeral Services will be held in Vernal, Utah on Friday October 21, 2022 at 11 AM with a viewing from 9:30 AM-10:45 AM.  Services will be held at the chapel located at 1270 West 1500 South and burial will be at the Rock Point Cemetery located at 2250 West 2500 North under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
