Marvel Elaine Murray Bascom passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at her home in Jensen surrounded by her family. She was born February 10, 1929, the third child of Arlie and Myrtle Gurr Murray in Vernal. She graduated from Uintah High School with the class of 1948. Elaine married Victor Boyd Bascom on May 2, 1949 at the Salt Lake City Court House in Salt Lake City, Utah. As Newlyweds they traveled to Montana for Boyd’s work and later made their home in Jensen. They were blessed with six children: Kenny, Dennis, Brent, Lynda, Cathy and Mark.
Elaine was a faithful member of the Church of Latter-Day-Saints and held many callings throughout the years. Boyd and Elaine’s marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple 0n September 17, 1965.
She was an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, canning and taking care of others. Her greatest joy was spending time with and making memories with her grand kids. She also looked forward to going to lunch monthly with her lifelong girlfriends from school. Mom was the center of our family’s life. We will miss her every day. Mom was a very kind and caring person. She showed unconditional love for everyone she met.
Elaine is survived by her children: Kenny (Beth), Dennis (Carma), Brent, Lynda (Charlie) Hagman, Cathy (Bob) Vanderbusse, and Mark, 29 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Her Siblings, Sister: Joann McCracken of Farmington, NM and brother: Jimmy Murray of Jensen, Utah and many nieces and nephews.
