Betsy was born Elizabeth Johnenne Sparger on October 3, 1952 in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Freddy and Jo Helen Sparger. She left us on August 12, 2022.
Betsy was a mother, a sister, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She spent most of her life sharing her love by caring for people. Whether through fellowship with her church, her work in Hospice as a CNA, or as a “warden” in youth home work, she tried to help those around her to whatever extent she was able.
She attended Hobbs High School and graduated in 1970.
After moving to Vernal she found a family with her church, the World Vision Assembly of God.
She found the love of her life in Wade Shavanaugh Cuch and they married in 1995.
They shared adventures camping, going on road trips, riding their 4-wheelers, and playing with their pets. Betsy had an unending love for all creatures and they had a host of furry, feathered, and scaled pets.
She loved to laugh, being outdoors, family dinners, music, dancing, and growing things. She had endless curiosity and a desire to create through folk art and fine art.
Betsy is survived by her beloved husband Wade, children Charles Keith D’Anza (Fawn), Kristi Beth Massey (Matt), Sarah Jane Eaton, and Courtney Ruth (Jeremiah); her brother James Hayden Sparger (Lee Ann), aunt Gwen Dismuke, cousins Joel Dismuke and Donna Dismuke Dean; numerous dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends, and her congregation.
Please, in lieu of flowers, make a donation in Betsy’s name to Gideons International.
