Eric V Simons

Eric V. Simons of Jensen returned to his Heavenly Father on February 25, 2018 at the age of 66. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 17, 1951 to William H. and Joy G Simons.

Eric proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1970-1972 with the Army First Calvary Division. He was a member of the American Legion and free Masons for many years. On February 26, 1972 he married the love of his life Annette “Shorty” Martin. Together they had two children Amanda & Matthew. His family was his pride and joy, his whole world. Eric worked as a Hydraulic & Electronics salesman in the mining industry or many years. He loved his work and made many friends along the way. Eric had a BIG personality and a loving giving soul. He never met anyone that was a stranger for long. He always had a joke to tell and words of wisdom to share.

Eric had a passion for guns, hunting, and his John Deere tractor. He loved to shoot and reload ammo. If you ever needed to know anything about guns he had the answer, and if not he would before you walked out his door. In the spring you could find him out tilling the gardens in Jensen with his trusty John Deere. Eric touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.

Eric is survived by his children; Amanda (Daniel) O’Driscoll; Matthew (Valerie) Simons; grandchildren, Zayden, Collin and Conner; sister, Suzanne (Arthur) DeGroft; sister-in-law, Carlene (Jim) Stone and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette “Shorty” Simons, parents, brother, Bill Simons and brother-in-law Carl Martin Jr.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary. Friends and family may call at Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary Friday evening from 6-8 one-hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Jensen Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Army, American Legion and The Patriot Guard Riders. Under the care and direction of the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary & Cremation Care.
