Eugene Long

Eugene “Huey” Porter Ray Long, age 67, of Vernal, UT passed away on October 10, 2018 in his home in Vernal.

Huey was born in Vernal, UT to George Emery Long and Reva Violet Chivers on February 20, 1951. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He went to school at Uintah High School for a time and graduated in Montpelier, ID in 1969. He married Dana Lynn Johnson on February 6, 1970 in Vernal, UT. He joined the Air Force and served time in Germany working with electronics and communications, after which he worked in the oil fields and dairy farming.

Huey is preceded in death by his father George Long, his mother Reva Long and his wife Dana Long.

Huey is survived by his son, Wayne Long (Donna) from Vernal, UT and his daughters Stephanie Davis from Ava, MO and Amy Long (Mindy Stout) from Killeen, TX. His sister Diana Billings and brother Jody Long both from Vernal, UT. He had 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Eugene Long, age 67, of Vernal will be conducted on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Ashley 1st LDS Ward Chapel (3040 North Vernal Ave. A viewing for family and friends will be at the Chapel from 9:30-10:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the American Legion, Services are entrusted to the care of Blackburn & Sons Mortuary.
