Anne Evelyn Petersen Slaugh, age 92 of Vernal, Utah passed away at the Uintah Care Center on December 23, 2012. She was born in Mount Pleasant, Utah on January 19, 1920 to Louis A. and Emily Anderson Petersen. She attended school at Logan High School and graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1937. She married Shirley Franklin Slaugh on January 10, 1946 in Los Angeles, California. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in 1953. They had four children; Evelyn Anne Slaugh Mendenhall, Franklin Luis Slaugh, Linda Helen Slaugh Padilla, and Eugene George Slaugh. During WWII, Evelyn taught high school shorthand and typing in Vernal. Her main occupation was providing secretarial services to companies and organizations like the draft board, child and family services, and Moon Lake Electric where she worked until she retired in 1982. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Xi Alpha Xi Sorority Preceptor Pi Chapter, Business and Professional Womens Club, and Pink Ladies. She served in many callings in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, including an ordinance worker in the Provo and Vernal Temples. Evelyn and Shirley were the Grand Marshals of the 4th of July Parade. Evelyn was awarded Queen of Preceptor Pi Chapter and won numerous bowling trophies. She is survived by her children Evelyn Anne Slaugh (James) Mendenhall, Franklin Lois Slaugh, and Linda Helen Slaugh Padilla, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband; Shirley F. Slaugh, son; Eugene (Geisia) Slaugh, daughter in law Cheryl (Frank) Slaugh, and all four of her siblings Funeral services wer held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vernal 7th Ward LDS Chapel with a viewing starting at 9:30 prior to the services. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
