Farrell M. Simmons, age 98 of Tridell, Utah died November 26, 2012 at his home. He was born in Clarleston, Utah on April 23, 1914 to George E. and Elsie Fern Marrott Simmons. He moved to the Uintah Basin when he was two years old and lived in the areas of Roosevelt, Lapoint, Whiterocks, and Deep Creek. He married Sarah Helen Harvey on December 11, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Tridell where they raised their 10 children. Farrell herded sheep as a young man, teaching himself to play a banjo while herding. He and his friends formed a band and played at many weddings and dances around the valley. He loved playing his banjo and organ and spending time with his family camping and fishing. He was a great fisherman. He also loved making things in his wood shop. His home and life was always filled with his children and grandchildren. He spent many hours video recording the many family gatherings. He is survived by his wife Sarah Helen of Tridell, children; Peggy Perry of Tridell, Farrell Bob (Beth) Simmons of Tridell, daughter in law Susan K. Simmons of Tridell, Margie Ann Gardner of Vernal, Richard Dan (Rossa ) Simmons of Deep Creek, Aaron Eugene (Helen) Simmons of Tridell, Louis Evert (Diane) Simmons of Tridell, Susan (Dennis) Clark of Vernon, Arnold Jay (Janet) Simmons of Vernal, Beverly (Bennie) Scholes of Taylorsville, 53 grandchildren, 140 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Gary H. Simmons, 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services were held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tridell LDS Chapel with a viewing 1 hour prior to the services. Burial was in the Tridell cemetery under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
