Frank Allen

Frank Dan Allen was born November 26, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Andrew Ezra and Dorothy Reader Allen. He passed away June 8, 2012 at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal, Utah. Frank was named after a grandfather and uncle. He attended school at Maeser Elementary, Uintah High School and in Richmond California. Frank married Echo Merkley December 27, 1950 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized June 24, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Frank was employed with Western Geophysical, Uintah County, the oilfield, Country Cash, in road construction, and helped as a carpenter to build some of our LDS chapels and stake centers. He was a high priest and served in the High Priest Presidency, in the Elders Quorum Presidency, the Sunday School Presidency, and was a devoted Home Teacher. He and his wife served 3 missions-as the Dry Pack Supervisors, British 1881 Census in England, and as Temple Missionaries at the Dallas Temple in Texas. He also served in the Vernal Temple when it first opened. Frank excelled in everything he attempted to do. Frank is survived by his wife; Echo, children; Diane (Tom) Reynolds, Susan (Bob) Lynch, Kevin (Cathy) Allen, Cheryl (Kim W.) Abplanalp, Nancy Jean (Bruce) Boren, 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maeser Stake Center with a viewing Tuesday evening from 6-8 at the Chapel and 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Maeser Cemetery under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Cemtery.
