Frank Andreasen

Frank Marvin Andreasen was born in Benjamin, Utah on January 3rd, 1935 – the third of five children to Frank M. Andreasen and Lauree Hatton. They moved to California in 1944. Frank was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa, and great-great grandpa. His happiness was time spent with his wife, children, and family. He loved reunions and any other occasions that allowed him to spend time with his loved ones. He was naturally charming, outgoing, and could easily connect with people of all ages and walks of life. Frank passed away at the age of 90 on January, 15th, 2025. 

Frank attended and graduated from Sherman E Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, California in 1953. He attended Brigham Young University from 1953-1955 and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He was Honorably Discharged from reserve status on May 31st, 1963. He served a full time Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Norway from 1958-1960. Frank and Marlene McGavin were married February 2nd 1961 in the Los Angeles Temple. 

After Frank received his BA from Brigham Young University in 1965 he began his career in public education in Big Pine, California. One year later he taught and coached at his “old alma mater” Burroughs High and taught night classes at Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest. Frank received his MS degree from Brigham Young University in 1971 and was then employed by the Uintah School District in Vernal, Utah working in administration and counseling until he retired in 1996. 

Frank felt fortunate to have served in many capacities for the Church - especially the callings he was able to serve with his wife, Marlene. They served together as Young Men and Young Women’s leaders, Frank was the Bishop of the Dutch John, Utah ward, full time senior missionaries in Norway, workers at the Vernal, Utah Temple, and coordinators of the Church Service Mission effort in Vernal, Utah. He especially enjoyed serving with Marlene as Cub Scout Den Leaders. 

Frank is survived by his children Dave (Teri) Andreasen, Nathan “Willie” (Lisa Lamoreaux) Andreasen; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marlene, daughter Kathlene, sons Philip and Mark, brothers Bert, James, and Gary; sister Delsa. 

Time to visit with family and friends will be held at the Blackburn Mortuary in Vernal, Utah on Thursday, January 23th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. 

Funeral services will be held the following day, January 24th, 2025 at the Vernal 7th Ward Chapel (850 W 100 N) at 10:00am. There is additional visitation time during the hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00am. Following the funeral service, Frank will be buried in the Benjamin Cemetery (9000 South 3200 West Benjamin, Utah) at 3:15pm. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Landmark Assisted Living for the love and care they gave their dad during the last years of his life, Canyon Home Health for their physical therapy and hospice services, and Doctor Kirk Woodward.
