Gary Lee Oaks

Gary Lee Oaks 54, passed away Sept. 25, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born Nov. 28, 1960 in Vernal, UT to Owen and Dorothy Oaks. He enjoyed life and the wilderness around him. He loved many things, going camping, fishing on the Green River, playing horseshoes, bowling, softball, drawing, and painting. Most of all he loved spending time with family, and friends. He enjoyed John Wayne movies, Country music, Split Mountain and he loved watching football but only if his team the 49ers were playing. He was an amazing dad, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his daughters Jeanie Oaks, and Christina Peters-Nelson, sons Owen Oaks, Kellen Oaks, and Blake Clark all of Vernal, Brothers Ronnie (Kristi) Oaks, Kenneth (Julie) Oaks of Vernal, Willie (Terri) McCurdy of Gusher, UT, Sister Debbie (Johnny) Boren of Vernal, 5 grandchildren Keira, Jamion, Jraxton, Taylor and Stormy, and many aunts, uncles, nephew, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents Owen and Dorothy Oaks and sister Marie McCurdy. Funeral services for Gary Lee will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 and one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
