Gary Scott

Gary K. Scott, age 72, of Vernal passed away on April 19, 2012 from a heart attack at the Uintah Basin Medical center. He was born June 6, 1939 in Vernal to Lawrence Kennedy and Thelma Gurr Scott. Gary served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1956-1959. He married Lois Ann Tolley on January 22, 1965. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salke Lake City LDS Temple. When Gary was younger, he ranched and herded sheep. He worked in and around the Gilsonite mines, drove truck, and worked in the oilfield until he retired in 2010. Gary is survived by his wife; Lois, children; Lane (Cindy) Scott, daughter in law Mary Anelli, David (Cassandra) Scott, Teresa (Randy) Hoffman, John (Georgene) Scott, and Mark Scott, sisters; Virginia (Jake) Trujillo, Leatrice Hamblin, and Connie (Ralph) Haworth, 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Boyd, sisters; Shirley Timothy and Georgia Sanchez, son; Brian, and grandson; Michael Sanchez. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vernal Memorial Park with viewings Sunday evening from 6-8 at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Monday morning from 9:30-10:30. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 124 and 11 and the Utah Army National Guard. Services were entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
