Gene Bernis Bristol March 4, 1943 ~ January 17, 2016 Gene Bernis Bristol won his fight with cancer surrounded by his family and returned to his Heavenly Father. He was born March 4, 1943 in Bluebell, Utah to Stanley and Violet Bristol. He was the eighth child of eleven. He married the love of his life Nola Hardman September 8, 1962. They were sealed on March 30, 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. They had four beautiful children. Gene loved and had a strong testimony of the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved spending time with his family camping, hunting, fishing, riding atvs, yardwork, and backyard barbeques. He loved going on walks, drives, and had a special love and appreciation for sunrises and sunsets. Gene was a jack of all trades. He did landscaping, construction, building of caskets, mining, and mechanic work. He was very talented with his hands. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nola. Children: Rod (Michelle) Bristol, Terry (Melissa) Bristol, Karla (Lee) Slaugh, and Kevin (Michelle) Bristol; all of Vernal. Twelve grandchildren: Angie, Kevin, David, Mitch, Kiecha, Brian, Sam, Dustin, Kimesha, Morgan, Derek, and Jevin. Thirteen great grandchildren: Paige, Logan, Anthony, Kyleigh, Jaycee, Addy, Kinsley, Kole, Rueger, Aiden, Kenna, Rudy, and Dierk. Brothers: Louis (Susan) Bristol, Dean Bristol. Sisters: Louise (Arlo) Blanchard, and Julia Reed, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. Brothers: Larry, Bruce, Alden, and Dale. Sisters: Betty, and Virginia. He will be greatly missed by all. We love you dearly. Funeral service will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Ashley 3rs Ward Chapel (235 East 600 South). A viewing for Family and friends will be Wednesday evening at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary from 6:00-8:00 and at the Chapel from one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
