George Edward Gudac September 10, 1931 – January 5th, 2021. 

George passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. (On the same day as his loving wife, Ann Gudac, 24 years prior.) He is now in his Heavenly home reunited with his wife, daughter, granddaughter, grandsons, parents and siblings.  

George was born and raised in Buffington, Pennsylvania to George Anthony and Rose Zon Gudac. He was the youngest of 7 children. George’s father worked in the coal mines, his mother was a homemaker.

George married Anna Mae Shevechick on November 13,1954, in Norristown, Pennsylvania at St. Francis of Assisi Church. They had 6 children: Ed (Jeni), Mike (Mariann), Cynthia (Brad Murray), Louise, Mark (Kara) and Laura.  

George was a trained machinist and enlisted as such in the Navy on January 17th, 1951, where he served until he was honorably discharged on November 29, 1954.  After they wed, they moved to Rangely, Colorado to begin their life together in the oil industry. He began employment with J.W. Gibson as a roughneck and worked hard to purchase his own work-over rig, which he used to start his own business, Gudac Well Service, which he successfully ran from June 1967 to November 1989.

After retiring, George spent his time taking care of his wife, who suffered from Huntington’s Disease. After her passing, George’s hobbies included golf (a hole-in-one, #17 Dinaland Golf Course), walking, keeping his yard in order, driving around town (snooping and telling Brad Murray, how to get his job done). George also had many friends that he liked to harass and tease. Phil Murray was among George’s dearest friends commonly known as “The Odd Couple.” George also had a very special relationship with his brother and sister-in-law’s, Mel and Helen Yackovich, George and Mary Smith, Bob and Peg Snyder.

George found a sweetheart later in his life, Judy Lupcho. They spent many joyful years traveling together and having fun. This included a family trip to Maui, Hawaii & Lake Powell, Utah. After Judy’s illness, George faithfully spent many hours every day visiting the Uintah Care Center which included giving direction to all, on how to operate their business, (Sorry).

He is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings: Joseph Gudac, Frank J Gudac, Frances D Shinsky, Mary Urusko, Helen Melinsky, and daughter Laura Rose Gudac, Grandsons Michael and Zachary Gudac and Granddaughter Whitney Anne Corbridge.

He is survived by his brother Joe (Emily) Gudac, five children, thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge and give thank you to Kim, Tina, and Misty of The Good Shepard for taking such special care of our Father, as well as the many texts, calls, cards, food, flowers and prayers. We are forever grateful. 

A private funeral service will be held Monday, January 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM St. James Catholic Church (Immediate Family Only). The burial will be held at the Vernal Cemetery at 12:00 PM, where friends are welcome. 

Friends are also welcome to attend a viewing on Sunday, January 10th, 2021, from 5-7 PM at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
