Gilbert Lincon Brough (GIB) 84 of Vernal died August 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born, in a log cabin February 12, 1929 in Leota, Utah; to Jesse Samuel and Luella Nebeker Brough. Gib was the eleventh of twelve children and the youngest son. He graduated from Altera high school in 1947. He married his sweetheart Norma Lee Hatch on May 25, 1949. Together they raised 3 children. Gib loved spending time with his family, hunting deer and watching the calves grow. He worked at Schlumberger for nearly 30 years and retired in 1984. He spent the next 30 years of his life doing the things he enjoyed the most. Farming,visiting friends & family and spending time with his wife. Gib served for many years with the irrigation water companies in the valley. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma Lee Hatch Brough, children, Chris (Anna) Brough, Diane (Ron) Cook; brother, Dee (Chole) Brough, sister, Eugenia Pickup, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Larry Gilbert Brough, a grandson Cody Stewart Cook, six brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel. (2575 North 1500 West) Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, services are entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
