Grace Southam Gardiner was born October 1, 1936 in Vernal, Utah the oldest of 5 children. Grace returned to her heavenly father and her beloved Ferris on July 12, 2022. She married Ferris M Gardiner on October 1, 1953 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Grace is survived by their three children; Katherine Gardiner of Vernal, Geraldine Miller of Vernal, and Kerry (Becky) Gardiner of Absarokee, Montana; grandchildren; Phillip (Meagan) Miller, Mikki (Ryan) Reid, Dustin (Amanda) Gardiner, Courtney (Colby) Huber, Savannah Gardiner, Koby (Becca) Gardiner; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Ferris M Gardiner her husband, her parents Ralph and Nellie Southam, granddaughter Jenifer Miller and grandson Tyler Gardiner.
She served her faith by working diligently in the Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women’s programs and the Vernal Utah Temple. While raising her family she earned a bachelor of Education from Utah State University and then a Masters of Education with a Reading Specialist emphasis from BYU. For 36 years she loved teaching the children of Uintah County. She was an avid reader and continued sharing books with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and special friends. She also enjoyed sewing, sharing family histories, fossil hunting, camping trips and picnics with family and quilting. She felt her quilts were legacy pieces to pass on to family members.
Grace took satisfaction in lovingly serving her family, friends and community and was deeply grateful for the love, companionship and support she received in return. The time she spent with family was her greatest treasure. The family home was the gathering place where she hosted many family meals, sleepovers and game nights.
