Gwen Funk

Gwen Funk, age 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother returned home to her Heavenly Father on January 23, 2016. She was born to Frank Leo Holgate and Leona Eldorus Bell on September 28, 1937 in Arcadia Utah. She married Howard George Funk on March 15, 1956. Later the marriage was solemnized in Manti LDS Temple. She unselfishly cared for and met the needs of her husband and children while many times going without herself. She taught her children the value of hard work by her own example, often getting up 4:00 in the morning and not ending her day until well after everyone else was in bed. She blessed the lives of others by helping and serving. She held many positions in her church, which she always strove to enrich the lives around her. Some of her many talents were crocheting, quilting, sewing and cooking. She loved working outdoors especially in her flower gardens, where she grew many beautiful and exotic flowers. Her greatest joy was her five children, Debby (Randy) Montgomery, George (Phillip) Funk, Brad (Misty) Funk, Heidi (David) Sadlier, Craig (Marcy) Funk; 26 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Leona, and her husband Howard, and grandson Bryant Montgomery. Though she will be sorely missed we know she is with the love of her life, our father. The family would like to thank all of those who expressed kind words and heart felt tears with the passing our mother. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Naples Ward Chapel. (2313 South 1500 East) A viewing will be Friday, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, and at the Chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
