August 26, 1921 ~ January 26, 2015 Harold Ernest "Ernie" Workman Jr., age 93 passed away January 26, 2015 in Vernal, Utah. He was born August 26, 1921 in Fruita, Colorado to Harold Workman and Juanita Mann Workman. He married Julia "Judy" Rownan Workman on December 22, 1941. Ernie grew up in Vernal and Grand Junction, graduating from Grand Junction High School. He joined the United States Army in 1941. After his discharge him and his wife moved to Burlingame, California where they were owners of Peninsula Appliance Store for over thirty years. They returned home to Vernal, Utah upon their retirement. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the American Legion. Ernie had a heart of gold and was well known for his generosity, often opening his home to others or lending a helping hand to those in need. He enjoyed fishing, playing the Colorado lottery, coin collecting, playing pool and restoring antique sewing machines. Even at 93 his memory remained sharp and we will cherish his life stories he enjoyed sharing with us. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Juanita; sisters, Donna Johnson and Barbara Jacobsen; his wife Judy, three sons: Harold Douglas, Robert Dean and Stephen Paul Workman and daughter Wendy Lynne Harrison. He is survived by his daughter Julie (Kenny) Oaks of Vernal, Grandson's Jason Workman and Michael Harrison of Vernal, Dean Workman of Glenwood Springs, granddaughter Monica Montemayor of Sunnyvale, CA; six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and sister Evelyn Stupy of Thousand Palms, CA. Funeral arrangements will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be held in the Vernal Memorial Park , with Military Honors provided by American Legion and Utah National Guard.
