Ileene Chivers

Ileene Gardiner Chivers age 84, of Vernal passed away peacefully on Nov. 7th 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born July 27th, 1932, in Vernal, UT To Alvin Gardiner and Nellie Karren Gardiner. She was one of five children. Ileene married the love of her life W. Jack Chivers on February 9th 1951 , their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 24th, 1965. As a young child their family struggled through the depression, she learned the importance of hard work and the value of a dollar. As their family raised cattle, hay, hundreds of turkeys, chickens and grew everything they need to eat and sold the rest to survive. Ileene and Jack started their life together in the Air Force stationed in Florida. When they first moved back to Vernal, they lived in a small cabin on White River where they caught stray sheep to save enough money to buy their first home. Ileene and Jack always shared the dream of owning a cattle ranch, they bought doggie calves to get their start. After years of struggling and hard work they ended up owning a large cattle ranch. They also owned G & H Garbage and several other small business together. Ileene severed in several church callings, such as Young Womens, Primary, Relief Society, and worked in the Temple for several years. She had a great love for her flowers and her garden but her greatest love and joy was her family. Ileene is survived by 8 children, Susan, Dave, Kathy, Valyn, Nicole, Heather, Phillip and Janessa. 14 grandchildren, 35 Great Grand Children, 1 Great, Great Grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Ashley Maeser Chapel. (3040 North Vernal Ave.) A viewing for family and friends will be at the Chapel Thursday evening from 6-8 and one hour prior to the services both viewing at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
