Ira "Leon" Schultz, a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather passed away Saturday March 21st, 2015. Ira 'Leon' Schultz was born on October 24th, 1941, along with his twin sister (Jesse Cleon Stout) in Sonora, Texas to Teddy and Ilene Schultz. His family lived in West Texas, where Leon spent most of his younger years. He joined the Navy in 1959 and served for three and a half years on a troop transport. He served until October 1962. After he was honorably discharged he went to Oregon to see his mother and youngest brother. While in Oregon he found love, and married Barbara Dodson in February 1963. He then came to Vernal, Utah in 1978 to work in the oilfield. He worked for Chandler Drilling Company of Denver, Colorado as a floor hand and was promoted to a Driller. Shortly after that he became a Tool Pusher. He had also worked for Olsen, Patterson, and Parker Drilling. He worked in states including Texas and Alaska. During his life he drilled for natural gas, oil, water wells, and storage wells. The rest of the family then moved to Vernal Later in 1978, where all 3 of his sons graduated from the Uintah High School. Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. After a long fight with health issues, he surrendered the fight of life in his home with his wife by his side. He leaves behind his wife Barbara Schultz, Sons: Robert and Kim Schultz of Vernal, Reese Schultz of Hawthorne, Nevada, John and Stacey Schultz of Vernal. He has 13 grandchildren, the wonderful ladies who love his sons, and many nieces and nephews. Brothers: Gene, Luke, David, Jimmy Schultz and Henry Ory and their wives and children. Family members preceded in death: his mother and father, Brother Jack Schultz, sister's: Rebeca Light, twin sister Cleon Stout, Wanda Merle Schultz and Sarah Lincycomb. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Family and friends may call at the Mortuary Wednesday, evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Thursday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, with Military Honors provided by American Legion and Utah National Guard, under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
