James Duane Boren “Butch” age 78, left this earthly life on April 12, 2018 at his home in Vernal. He was raised in Craig Colorado where he graduated from Craig High School. He married the love of his life Mary Lou Bowden on March 22, 1958. Together they had 3 children.
Butch enjoyed being in the mountains, mostly Archery hunting, searching for arrow heads, camping with his family, and finding a new trail to ride his 4-wheeler.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Butch worked at the Gilsonite Mine from the age of 16 until he retired at the age of 64. He was a loving man who cared for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Lou Boren, children, James (Gay-Lynn) Boren; Jenny (Dave) Chivers; Michelle (Roger) Alexander; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, brother, Lynn Boren, Glenn Loranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Peggy Anderton, brother, Keith Boren; Step dad Gail Loranger; great grandchildren, Weston Chivers, Oakley Chivers.
Funeral Services be conducted on Wednesday, 11:00 am in the Vernal 5th & 9th Ward Chapel (250 North 200 West). Viewings will be on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Wednesday at the church 1 hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. Services have been entrusted to the care of the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary.
