Jimmy D Murray was the 7th child born September 28, 1946 to Arlie & Myrtle Gurr Murray, In Vernal, Utah. He passed away September 9, 2021 in Jensen Utah. Jimmy grew up in Jensen. Attended Jensen Elementary school, Ashley valley Jr. High, and Uintah High School in Vernal Utah, he graduated in 1964. He joined the National Guard in 1964, right out of high school and served until 1970 where he received an honorable discharge. Jimmy married Gloria Jean Stewart, His childhood sweetheart and love of his life June 3, 1967 in Jensen, Utah. Jimmy and Gloria were inseparable for 64 years and had been married for 54 years. Jimmy & Gloria are the parents of two sons, Dwayne James and Troy Dean Murray, and Rachelle, Devin, and TJ . Jimmy is survived by his wife Gloria of the family home, Dwayne James (Tarlene) of Jensen, Rachelle (Tyson), Devin (Levi) & Troy “TJ” (Murray. 7 grandchildren Colby (Natosha) of Roosevelt, Caleb of Roosevelt, Caitlin (Colton) of Vernal and 3 great grandchildren PrayZlee, LaColbi, Emmra and one on the way. Sister JoAnn McCracken of Farmington New Mexico, sister-in-law Jean (Blaine) of Rangely Colorado, Sandy (Ferris) of Vernal and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Arlie and Myrtle Murray, son Troy Dean, grandson Chase, his brothers, Ferris, Blaine, George, Doyle, Roger “Bud” Murray, & sister Elaine Bascom. Jimmy was the toughest guy we will ever get the opportunity of meeting. He knew the value of hard work and unconditional love. He was an amazing Husband, Father, and Grandfather. We always knew that he was the ideal example of what a family man should be. He was a farmer at heart, the farm was everything to him and his family. He raised sheep, advanced to cattle, farmed, irrigated, you name it! It is because of Jimmy and all of his grit and generosity; we are the family we are today. If Jimmy wanted something done right, he would always say “I better do it by myself then.” With a smirk, as always. He worked in the oilfield from the age of 17 to 68, happily retiring in 2013. Everyone knew to drive by the house to check and see if the shop garage door was open to pop in and have an occasional beer or small talk. He loved the mountains, loved to fish, loved to hunt, and loved everything about the outdoors. He loved to farm with his son, Dwayne, and grandchildren Rachelle, Devin, Troy “TJ”. Jimmy has numerous friends, family, previous coworkers, and plenty more that will greatly miss his presence.
Services for Jimmy D Murray will be held Tuesday September 14, 2021 at 11 AM at the Uintah Western Park.
