Joan Christensen

Our devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend always putting others first, Joan Ellsworth Christensen, age 76, died November 13, 2017 at her home in Vernal, Utah. She was born December 14, 1940 in Vernal, Utah to Lester Arnold and Juanita Watkins Ellsworth. She married her sweetheart George D. Christensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 25, 1960. Joan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day- Saints serving in church organizations such as Secretary in the Primary, and in the Relief Society. She lived in Bonanza her first 12 years then moving to Vernal where she lived until her death. Survived by her children; Leslie (Michael) Nye; Kimberly Idaho; Danny (Marcela) Christensen, of Jordan, Utah; Kirk Christensen of Vernal, Utah; Rick (Vickie) Christensen of Jordan, Utah; 6 grandchildren; sister, Vickie (Lavor) Southam of Tabiona, Utah. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Davis 1st Ward Chapel (3990 South 1500 East). A viewing Thursday from 6-8 PM. and one hour prior to the services all at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the care and direction of the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary.
