Dempsey Day, loving husband, father, grandpa and friend was called home to his Heavenly Father Monday April 4, 2016 at his residency. Dempsey was born in Fletcher Oklahoma April 18, 1938 to Troy and Jewel Day. Dempsey served 4 years in the Navy and was honorably discharged. He met his sweet heart Janice Gilje in North Dakota and married his lovely bride January 16, 1960. Children: June (Chris) Corbett, Jerome (Karrie) Day, Julia (Wavie) Carter, J.D.(Milissa) Day, and Troy Day, with many grand and great grand children. Dempsey was a prominent member of the oil field, starting in 1962 to retirement. Dempsey had many interest that including getting his pilot license and flying his plane on his days off, and delivering parts to the oil field by airdrop. Farming, raising cattle, chicken, turkeys and geese, and water master. Dempsey also became a certified welder, which brought him work in the oil field and doing trade work with local neighbors and farmers. Dempsey was a Race horse owner and training, running and winning and many horse races. Dempsey was a man of many talents, there was nothing he could not master. Dempsey became an active and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Uintah Stake Center. (4080 South 2500 East). A viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 6-8 PM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to the service the Chapel. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion and Utah National Guard.
