Keith Macks Murray passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on February 26, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born January 7, 1948 to Nila and Macks Murray in Vernal, Utah.
Keith graduated from Uintah High School in 1966. He played baseball for both Uintah High and the College of Southern Utah.
Keith married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Linda Reynolds on March 30, 1967. They were blessed with 2 children, Glen and Shane.
Keith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings to include a Stake Mission, Scout Leader, Elders Quorum President and as a counselor at the care center branch.
Keith was a hunters education instructor for 25 years.
Keith had a special bond with Josie Morris Bassett. His family had a relationship with Josie from before his birth. Throughout his childhood, Keith would spend 2 weeks every summer at Josie’s cabin. Keith had many stories he loved to tell about his cherished time with Josie and has a quilt that she embroidered for him.
Keith had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, camping, painting and storytelling. Keith loved to garden and was always happy to share his produce with others. He loved to spend time in the Book Cliffs and on Blue Mountain. He enjoyed taking people to visit Josie’s Cabin where he could talk for hours. He also loved to visit his good friends Scoot and Vickie Wilkins in Jensen.
Keith worked in many fields throughout his lifetime including welder, hoist man, surveyor, oilfield salesman and bus driver.
Keith adored his grand-children and great-grandchildren. He was so happy to have his granddaughter Kamryn serving in the Texas Houston East Mission.
Keith is survived by his wife, Linda Murray, Sons; Glen (Sheri) Murray, and Shane Murray, Sister; Marlene (Darwin) Holden; Grandchildren, Lacey Murray, Jordan (Daisen) Murray, Kaylee (Blake) Laing, and Kamryn Murray, Great-Grandchildren Macks Laing, and Braylie Murray.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Macks and Nila Murray, Stepmother Jerrie Murray, Mother and Father-in-Law Glen and Toni Reynolds, Brother-in-Law Lee Broadbent, and Sister-in-Law JoAnn Zipprich.
Funeral services for Keith will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 @10 A.M. at the Naples LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Friday, March 1st from 6-8 P.M. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Saturday 1 hour prior to service at the chapel.
Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
