Kelly Wayne Buckner

Kelly Wayne Buckner, age 62, died peacefully in his home May 21, 2019. 

Born to Arthur Blaine and Mary Joanne Buckner on July 3, 1956 in Salt Lake City.

Kelly lived a life filled with learning, service, and love. He graduated from Cypress High School in 1974 and then earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and a Master’s degree at Wayne State University. He loved to learn and continued to read and research throughout his life. His favorite subject was history, especially American, Medieval, and church history.

Kelly loved to bless those around him. At age 19, Kelly served in the Madrid, Spain Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was always eager to plow a neighbor’s driveway after a storm or share the harvest from his garden.

Most of all, Kelly was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He married Ruth Ann Brimhall May 7, 1988. Together they had three children: Trevor, Trent, and Trudy. Kelly took great pride in his children and encouraged them to serve missions and pursue education. He loved being a grandpa and always found new ways to cause trouble with his granddaughter, Eliza.

The family left behind will miss Kelly, buthe has now joined his parents who preceded him in death.

Funeral Services for Kelly Buckner age 62, Husband of Ruth Ann Buckner of Vernal will be conducted on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 12:00 Noon  at the Glines Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (1270 west 1500 South) a Viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday  10:30 to 11:45  AM prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park Under the care and direction of the Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary & Cremation Care.
