Kenneth Wayne Tripp died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 4th, 2024. He was born January 23, 1940, in Keota Oklahoma to Orvil Tripp and Alta Jessie Coy. He was the oldest of 7 children. Later his family moved to Tulare California, where he was raised. Ken married Beverly Lynn McLain on Dec. 8, 1957, and was later sealed in the Provo Utah Temple November 24th, 1973. They were blessed with 3 children. Jimmy, Junior and Shelley.
In 1961 Ken and Bev and the two boys moved to Rangely, Colorado, where his daughter was born the following Spring. From Colorado they moved to Vernal Utah for a short time, then
moving out to Redwash Oil field for several years, then back to Vernal where he lived for the next 45 years. His last 9 years were spent in Grantsville, Utah.
Ken was employed with Chevron Oil Company for 37 years where he met and established lifelong friends. He was a dedicated and hard worker. He served as a member of the Local Lion’s Club for over 30 years. He also served in the community coaching little league baseball. He was well known to many young boys as Coach Tripp. He coached Jr. Bronco baseball for many years. Having a perfect season in 1970, coaching his son Junior. He repeated this perfect season in 1997 coaching his grandson Coy.
Ken was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where is served in many capacities. He served at the stake cannery, family history center, area sports director, 1st counselor in the Glines 3rd Ward bishopric and was called to serve, along with his wife at the Uintah Utah Care Center where they served for seven years. Ken also served in the Vernal Utah Temple for 14 years. His greatest love was his family, including his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife Beverly and his children Jimmy, Kennth Jr., Shelley Snow (Doug), 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. Brother, Ray (Ramona) and Sister, Fay Johnson. Sister in-laws, Callie Tripp, Verlene Tripp and Elaine Tripp. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Jerry, Jesse, Don and Lonnie, his grandson, Rich W. Tripp. Brother in-law Jay Johnson, sister in-laws, Patrica Tripp and Linda McLain Rhode.
Funeral Services for Kenneth will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2 pm at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, with a viewing held 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
