Kent Boren
May 24, 1940 -December 14, 2020
We’ve all heard it said and even sung, “our heroes have always been cowboys,” but to us this statement is pure fact. We got to call our hero “Dad” and “Pa.” Our amazing dad, Kent Jay Boren passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, from complications of an infection throughout his body. He was born May 24, 1940 which made him 80 years young. Besides being a husband for over 59 years, a father, and a Pa, his biggest passions were riding horses with his favorite cowboys, training his dogs, exercising, working in the LDS temple, and sharing stories of his youth. One of his biggest talents was talking to everyone he met, you were always a friend to our dad. He was a successful, licensed electrician and worked tirelessly in the oilfield creating and connecting amps to circuits, rewiring when needed, gauging, and keeping it efficient and running safely. He created a great legacy and is survived by his wife Nita Workman Boren, daughter Dena Zager (Brent Zager Sr), son Kent (Herk) Boren Jr. (Jackie Boren), daughter Mindi Atwood (Scott Atwood), daughter Aimi Percival (Joe Percival) and 20 plus grandkids and great grandkids. He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Cecil and Velma Boren, brother’s Jerry Boren and Lonnie Boren, and sister Larae Bristol. To pay respects we are having a viewing at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, Friday, December 18, 2020 from 6-8 pm and on Saturday 9:45-10:45 at the LDS Chapel at 3990 South 1500 East in Vernal followed by funeral at 11 AM . He will be buried and laid to rest in the Rock Point Cemetery. Words can’t express how much we will miss our hero, our dad, our friend, so until we meet again, keep the saddle warm. We love you, Dad. Thank you for being a fantastic husband, dad, pa, brother, and friend. We wish to thank the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
