Kristi Anne Oaks has returned to her Father in Heaven. Born November 10, 1976, to Michael W and Cheya R (Rasmussen) Weber, she graced our lives for 40 years. She died January 29, 2017 leaving a legacy of love, devotion, joy and compassion. Kristi was born in Provo, Utah, but her family soon moved to Vernal, where she lived the rest of her life. She was a joyful child but was plagued with health problems and chronic pain for much of her life. She is known for her kindness and compassion. She always saw the best in people and had a special place in her heart for the ill, lonely and downtrodden. Myriad are the stories of her compassionate service to those in need. She was a constant and loyal friend to many. She loved the out of doors, antiques, decorating her home and keeping a pretty yard with lovely flowers. She always took the time to send thoughtful notes and messages of encouragement to those who were struggling. She dearly loved her dogs Sugar and Chowder and could hardly bear to be away from them. Kristi married Ronald D. Oaks on December 5, 2011 and they made their home in Vernal. They made many wonderful memories together in their home in Glines, their camper on the mountain and dream trip to Costa Rica. In the summer of 2014 Ronnie was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was stage four and despite surgery and treatment he died on April 20, 2016. During those long and arduous months their lives changed drastically but Kristi never left his side. We are so comforted by the knowledge of their fond reunion in the hereafter. Kristi is survived by her Parents and siblings, Jennifer (John) Couture, Alyson Weber and Katie (Russell) Flaniken, Nieces Megan Couture and Olivia Flaniken and nephews Jeffrey Couture and Michael Flaniken. Viewings will be held Friday, January 3, from 6 to 8 PM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and at the Vernal 9th Ward Chapel (250 N. 200 W.) prior to services on Saturday the 4th. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM. Kristi's family is grateful for the many and compassionate kindness they are receiving. In lieu of flowers please make a generous contribution to a charity of your choice. It is what Kristi would want. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
