Leon Thomas Moon, loving husband and father, died April 8, 2021 a few days short of his 82nd birthday.
Leon Moon was born April 11th 1939 in Jensen UT.
Life was simple in Jensen Utah. Leon developed a love of nature and hunting and fishing were among his favorites. Leon’s parents, Deon and Thebbie Moon raised him with love in their home. He enjoyed playing sports especially basketball. He was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and his family faithfully went to church.
Leon’s siblings are: Joleen Snow, Arletta Childs, Carol Pritchard, Matilda Wyasket, Danny Lopez & Larry Moon.
Leon Married Bonnie Rae Bair on March 5th 1960. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City temple.
Leon Married Judy Rogers Hogan Moon May 6th 2019.
Leon & Bonnie had 9 children. Judy & David Jacobsen, Wally & Tammy Moon, James & Susan Moon, Patti & Russell Anderson, Shauna & David Pipher, Dena & Nick Repac, Tracy & John Troxel, Rick & Gena Moon, Larry & Kari Moon. Leon married Judy and added 3 step children. Tina & Bradley Pinnecoose, Sherry Hogan, & Terry Hogan. Together they have 74 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. Leon left a legacy of unconditional love, kindness, service, family & most importantly a love for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Service was a huge part of Leon’s life, he happily served as Uintah Basin Jr livestock president, Hauled wood for the widows in his community & most recently he raised a huge garden of pumpkins that he donated for the Jensen pumpkin festival. He served a Uintah Care Center service mission & he was a temple ordinance worker.
In the last years of Leon’s life he bore vibrant testimony of his love for the temple. He attended the Temple 4 days a week. Leon was a dedicated home teacher & He held many youth leadership positions including, priest quorum advisor, dance instructor and coached basketball. Our family and community dearly loved Leon and he will be missed by all. Leon will be buried in the Jensen Utah cemetery.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Deon & Thebbie Moon, His wife, Bonnie Bair Moon, his children, Judy & James Moon, His sister’s Joleen, Carol and Matilda.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday April 12, 2021 at 11 AM in the Jensen Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints a viewing will be Sunday April 11, 2021 at Blackburn vernal Mortuary from 5-7 PM and Monday at the Church 9:45-10:45 prior to services with Burial in the Jensen Cemetery
