Charles Leon Richens, passed away peacefully at his home in Vernal, Utah, surrounded by his family and friends after battling a longtime illness. He left this world to go on to the next on Sunday, February 24, 2013. He was born in Vernal on May 25, 1949 to Melvin and Jean Cook Richens. Leon loved socializing with all he knew and they enjoyed his sense of humor. He touched so many hearts. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, and trapping. He had so many talents and enjoyed woodworking. Leon will be missed, and never will be forgotten. He will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts. Leon is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years; Alice Bennett Richens, daughters; Dusty (David) Riding, Leona Richens, grandchildren; Trevor (Jolene) Staley, Hod Staley, C.J. D Anza, Christopher D Anza, Breanna Oaks, sisters; Verna (Keith) Peterson, Beverly Richens, brother; Marvin Richens, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Donna, Sharron, and Floyd Richens. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rock Point Cemetery in Vernal. Friends and family may call at a viewing prior to services at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to cover burial expenses. Services are entrusted to the care of the Blackburn vernal Mortuary.
